Hi everyone, I’m Von, a Filipino student in Taiwan. I'm currently in my third year of Computer Science at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST).
Guided by my personal motto, “The day you stop learning is the day you stop living,” I am passionate about growing my skills, tackling new challenges, and seeking new opportunities.

Built a cloud-native movie management system to help users discover and organize films with sub-second search performance and near-zero downtime.
A full-stack MERN application deployed on Google Cloud Platform's Cloud Run with Docker containers and automated CI/CD via GitHub Actions. Implements Redis Cache-aside pattern to accelerate queries across 1.3M TMDB movie records, reducing API latency and backend load. Features JWT authentication with GitHub Secrets and IAM for production security, frontend debouncing to reduce redundant requests by 50%+, and Cloud Logs monitoring for system health tracking. Achieves near-zero downtime with automatic scaling in the asia-east1 region.
AI Pet Species Classifier
Built an image classifier to help pet shelters and veterinarians identify pet species with 98% accuracy using deep learning.
Developed an end-to-end image classifier using PyTorch and FastAI without relying on pre-built APIs. Improved model accuracy from a 76% baseline to 98% through data augmentation and learning rate optimization. Implemented model serialization and deployed the solution to Hugging Face Spaces with a Gradio web interface for real-time inference.
Voice-Controlled Smart Traffic Light
Built an IoT edge control system with real-time voice response, overcoming single-thread limitations in embedded systems.
Integrated MQTT message listening within the traffic light control loop to enable real-time voice command response while executing LED sequences on ESP32. Developed an Android app from scratch and implemented MQTT async architecture with QoS 0 for low-latency communication. Used MQTTx to monitor message flow, ensuring precise command transmission from the Android client to the ESP32 controller.
Aura Notes
Developed a full-stack note-taking application inspired by Google Keep with dynamic note sizing and secure authentication.
A MERN application featuring dynamic note sizing where note height adapts to content length, creating a responsive masonry layout inspired by Google Keep. Built with JWT authentication, MongoDB for data persistence, and a React frontend with Tailwind CSS and Framer Motion for smooth animations. The adaptive card layout demonstrates CSS Grid mastery and attention to UX detail.
